In J.K.Rowling books there are many common themes that keep re-appearing. Her creativity and knowledge of so many different genres make for an excellent read every time. In her first two books, Harry potter and the sorcerers stone and Harry potter and the chamber of secrets i notice two very important interesting themes that take place throughout the whole Harry Potter series. The first theme is fantasy, from the time harry was introduced into the magical world and Hogwarts he has been surrounded by fantastical creatures, witches and other wizards. Harry has been in the " muggle " world since birth and was unable to experience his magical side until he was old enough to be enrolled in Hogwarts. In the first book harry experiences fantasy when he encounters the giant troll in the girls bathroom and with the help of Ron and Hermione they kill it.
The second theme that arises in the books very commonly is quest. Harry has many obstacles that he must go through to reach an understanding of how his parents died and what they died for. The first series harry with the help of his friends go through many obstacles such as a deathly chess game and a potions tasting in order to find the stone and have it destroyed. In the second book Harry discovers new things about his self and goes on a hunt for the chamber of secrets where he rescues ginny right in the nic of time. Rowling did a great job of connecting the the first and second book together and as the series continues each task becomes a lite more complicated for harry to save the day.
